LOT Polish Airlines will receive 10 Embraer 195s from Azul by year-end

A few days ago we were telling you that LOT would sub-lease 18 Embraer 195s from Azul, with an option for 14 more (up to 32 in total). The Polish carrier has confirmed that 10 of these jets will enter the fleet by the end of 2020.

The average age of these 10 Embraers is around 6 years. “These planes will be perfect on popular European routes and will allow further development of the network of connections from our hubs in Warsaw and Budapest. Thus, LOT will have the largest Embraer fleet in Europe and one of the largest in the world”, said RafaƂ Milczarski, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines. The Embraer 195s will handle domestic as well as international short and medium routes, amongst others from Warsaw to Krakow, Frankfurt, Vienna, Munich, Barcelona, Geneva, Odessa, Kiev or Copenhagen.

In 2004, LOT was the first airline in the world to begin operating the first generation of E-jets. Currently, LOT has 35 Embraer aircraft. Thanks to the contract with Azul, by 2023 their number in the LOT fleet will increase to more than 50 units. In addition, the Polish carrier will be able to withdraw E170s and E175s as the E195s arrive.
