Today, TAROM’s first of nine ATR 72-600s (YR-ATJ) has arrived in Bucharest after its delivery flight from Toulouse. The aircraft wears a new livery, which will also adorn 6 other ATR 72-600s. The remaining two (8th and 9th) will have a special livery, as TAROM’s CEO told us.

YR-ATJ has landed at 14:40 local time on runway 26L, after flying non-stop from Francazal Airport, Toulouse. It will operate its first revenue flight in 2-3 days. By the end of March, four more 72-600s will join TAROM’s fleet. Two more will arrive this summer, and the last two will enter the fleet by September, each one painted in a special livery.
We’ve asked TAROM’s CEO if the entire fleet will also be painted in the new livery, and he told us no such decision has been taken yet. These ATR 72-600s offer 72 seats (2-class layout) and are leased for 10 years from Nordic Aviation Capital. These new ATRs will gradually replace TAROM’s seven 42-500 and two 72-500.
