Ceremonia a avut loc astazi la Toulouse, iar maine avionul va ajunge la Gatwick. Inca trei A350-1000 vor intra in flota Virgin in 2019, urmand ca restul de 8 sa soseasca pana in 2021.
Virgin devine astfel al 4-lea operator de A350-1000 la nivel mondial dupa Qatar Airways (clientul de lansare A350-900 si -1000), Cathay Pacific si British Airways. La preturi de lista, cele12 unitati A350-1000 comandate de Virgin Atlantic valoreaza 4,4 miliarde de dolari.
Avioanele ofera 3 clase de calatorie: 44 de locuri la Business Class (layout 1-2-1) + The Loft, barul unde pasagerii premium pot socializa, 56 de locuri in Premium Economy (layout 2-4-2) si 235 in Economy (layout 3-3-3).
Intrarea in serviciul comercial este programata pentru 10 septembrie pe ruta Londra Heathrow – New York JFK. Virgin va opera cu A350-1000 sase zboruri / saptamana (VS153 13:30 – 16:25, respectiv VS138 19:00 – 07:20+1). Din 25 septembrie, zborul LHR-JFK operat cu A350K va deveni VS137 (11:50 – 14:50). Pana pe 26.10, A350-1000 VS va zbura zilnic (mai putin joi) spre New York, iar intre 27.10.2019 si 28.03.2020 zilnic, mai putin marti.
