VIDEO / Embraer ERJ-190 Azerbaijan Airlines, flight J28243 crashed in Kazakhstan

On the morning of December 25th, the aircraft (4K-AZ65) was operating flight J28243 from Baku to Grozny when it crashed near Aktau Airport, Kazakhstan, after having declared an emergency. There were 62 passengers on-board and 5 crew members.

According to Flightradar24, the ERJ-190 took off from Baku at 03:55 UTC time and was flying to Grozny. The aircraft was exposed to strong GPS jamming which made the aircraft transmit bad ADS-B data. At 04:40 UTC, FR24 lost the ADS-B signal. At 06:07 UTC it picked up the ADS-B signal again before it crashed at 06:28 UTC.

Local media outlet Kazaeronavigatsiya stated that the flight crew had reported problems controlling the aircraft. According to information from the Ministry of Emergencies, 32 survivors were taken to the hospital.

As per FR24, the aircraft was exposed to GPS jamming and spoofing near Grozny. The altitude was oscillating for 74 minutes before the crash near Aktau Airport, 433 km from the original destination. The aircraft was airborne for 2h 33 min.
