Aeronava a decolat azi-dimineata din Dublin, unde a fost vopsita in retro livery BOAC de catre IAC, si a ajuns la Londra, pe aeroportul Heathrow, zborul BA100. Maine, G-BYGC va intra in serviciul comercial spre New York JFK, urmand ca miercuri sa ajunga la Chicago.
Dimineata v-am aratat pe facebook.com/Aeronews.ro primele fotografii si video cu aeronava dupa iesirea din hangar, iar acum venim cu informatii suplimentare. Jumbo jet-ul a intrat in hangarul IAC din Dublin pe 5 februarie pentru a fi vopsit in livery BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation), schema cromatica regasita pe avioanele BOAC intre 1964 si 1974. Inca 3 Boeing-uri 747 British Airways vor fi vopsite in scheme retro (Landor, Negus si Negus rosu, alb, albastru) plus un Airbus A319 (BEA livery).
Maine, avionul va zbura catre New York JFK (zborul BA117), prima destinatie spre care 747 a zburat in culorile BOAC, iar miercuri, 20 februarie, va ajunge la Chicago O’Hare. Livery-ul BOAC va fi mentinut pe aceasta aeronava pana in anul 2023, cand va fi retrasa din serviciul comercial. In urmatorii ani, BA va receptiona 18 Airbus-uri A350 si 12 Boeing-uri 787 Dreamliner, dar si 26 de avioane scurt-curier.
