The new livery, created in collaboration with FutureBrand, has a chakra-inspired pattern, a specially created ‘Air India’ font, and a colour scheme of deep red, aubergine, and gold highlights. As a prominent element of the design, the Star Alliance carrier has recreated its iconic window frame motif in metallic gold to represent “a window of possibilities.” This may be seen on the underbelly, wingtips and tail, and it also served as inspiration for the new font style.
The top of the gold window frame served as the inspiration for Air India’s new logo, “The Vista,” which stands for “limitless possibilities, progress, and the airline’s bold, confident outlook for the future.” The eye-catching tail features a window frame design in addition to a ‘Jaali’ pattern that was modelled after the chakra from the original emblem.
The first aircraft painted in the new livery will be Air India’s first Airbus A350-900, due for delivery by the end of the year. From the second half of 2024, travellers will also sample refurbished cabins on-board the Boeing 777-300ERs (4 travel classes), followed by the 787 Dreamliners.
