For the first time, camera crews were granted extensive access to Belgium’s national airline. Waking up at 3 a.m., only to be rewarded with a sunrise above the clouds. A 12-hour shift that takes you from Brussels to Nairobi, followed by two nights on location. Working for an airline continues to spark the imagination.

Starting today, Brussels Airlines and VTM will showcase what really happens behind the scenes at the airline. Over several months, production company Geronimo Entertainment followed various Brussels Airlines employees—on the ground and in the air—capturing their experiences for Welkom Aan Boord. The series will air every Sunday evening on VTM and will also be available on VTMGO.

In Welkom Aan Boord, the daily work of cabin crew, pilots, ground staff, and aircraft technicians is highlighted. Brussels Airlines hopes the series will inspire more people to pursue a career in aviation. Those interested can visit the Brussels Airlines job site for opportunities.

“We provide a unique behind-the-scenes look. What does it take to care for our passengers in and around the airplane? Many wonder about the tasks and responsibilities of the colleagues on board and at the airport. We show both the appealing and less appealing sides of our colleagues’ daily jobs. For example, it’s exciting to regularly travel abroad for work, but night flights, long days, and challenging situations are also part of the job,” says Wencke Lemmes, Head of Customer Experience, Product & Marketing, Brussels Airlines

“A lot of people travel by plane. But the cockpit remains strictly off-limits to passengers at all times. It is there that crucial decisions are made—the beating heart of the aircraft, so to speak. We are delighted that, together with VTM, we can open that door for the first time and give viewers an exclusive look into a world that truly captures the imagination. At the same time, we follow the cabin crew during the flight, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into their work as well. We are very grateful that the pilots and cabin crew of Brussels Airlines are willing to share their stories about their lives, jobs, passion, and dedication,” comments Davy Parmentier, Channel Director, VTM.
