Lufthansa Technik will also take over the long-term component supply for Austrian Airlines’ Boeing 787 fleet, which is currently being built up. In a recently signed contract, the two companies have agreed on Total Component Support (TCS) for up to 11 long-haul aircraft until the end of 2032.

In addition to the classic MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) of aircraft parts, TCS includes the so-called open-loop component supply from Lufthansa Technik’s global parts pool. If Austrian reports a defective component in one of its 787s, the airline does not have to wait for it to be repaired, but receives a ready-to-use replacement part from the Lufthansa Technik pool immediately and as quickly as possible – worldwide. Downtimes of the affected aircraft caused by the parts defect can thus be reduced to a minimum.
Lufthansa Technik has been providing the first services under the new 787 contract since June of this year and is gradually building up a stock of materials for the Dreamliners stationed in Vienna. The TCS is tailored to the needs of the Austrian Airlines 787-9 fleet, which is initially being built up with seven used aircraft and will later be supplemented by currently four factory-new aircraft.
