The initiative, launched in February, invited customers and fans to vote for their favorite among three stunning livery designs created by talented Puerto Rican artists Elizabeth Barreto, Juan Gutiérrez, and Natalia Nicole. Each design uniquely reflected Puerto Rico’s beauty and culture with flair and style.
The Stencil Network, renowned for his mastery of stencil techniques, created the chosen design, showcasing iconic symbols of Puerto Rican identity. From the proud jíbaro figure on the tail to the island’s vibrant fruits and flora, the artwork embodies the spirit of Puerto Rico. Additionally, with the phrase “Yo Soy Boricua” on the aircraft’s belly, this livery serves as a powerful declaration of Puerto Rican pride from all angles. Every take-off and landing will become a moment of celebration for the island and its people, many of whom are JetBlue crew members.
“For me it is a great honor to have been chosen to capture this vision of Puerto Rico,” said Juan Gutierrez. “My design is inspired by the energy of our archipelago and the vibrant identity that sets us apart. I worked with the idea of how colors, flavors, and music act as a bridge to memory, carrying us back to the spaces and moments we hold dear. I wanted to portray the nobility of the jíbaro accompanied by his harvest, not only for its visual and historical iconicity, but as an aspirational symbol of the values that guide and represent us as a people in times of both joy and adversity. I hope that wherever this plane flies, Puerto Ricans feel seen and connected to this land that we love so much and that, no matter where they are, they feel Puerto Rico closer.”
