Work is also underway on the decommissioning of the 3 Boeing 767s and 6 Boeing 777s. “We are very pleased to welcome our third Dreamliner to the fleet in a few months. The aircraft will enter scheduled service for Austrian Airlines on 1st June. Until then, work will be carried out on the cabin and the aircraft will be given its Austrian livery. From June onwards, it will initially be used primarily on the route to New York-Newark”, says Austrian Airlines COO Stefan-Kenan Scheib.

Austrian Airlines’ long-haul fleet will grow from 11 to 12 aircraft. 10 more Dreamliners will be added to the current two in the fleet by the end of 2028.

A rollover has also been underway in the short- and medium-haul fleet since the end of last year. The Embraer aircraft are being phased out, while the Airbus fleet at Austrian Airlines is growing by 6 Airbus A320neo aircraft. Two Embraer aircraft have already left the fleet. The first additional Airbus aircraft are expected this year. In addition, older Airbus models will also be gradually replaced by new ones in the coming years.
