Next summer, American will add 3 new destinations to its network from Philadelphia (PHL): Porto, Portugal (OPO); Reykjavik, Iceland (KEF); and Vienna (VIE). American will serve Porto and Vienna for the first time ever, while offering flights to Reykjavik for the first time since 2019.

American will be the only U.S. airline serving VIE, expanding the airline’s Central European network that grew in 2026 to also include Prague (PRG) and Budapest, Hungary (BUD). Vienna is an iconic city with spectacular palaces, museums, classical music experiences and outdoor activities, making it a must-visit destination. American will offer an extended season between PHL and VIE, flying through early January 2028, making it easier than ever to visit magical European Christmas markets.

Earlier this year, American announced intentions to serve OPO in 2027. With the nearby Douro Valley’s stunning natural scenes complementing beautiful blue-and-white azulejos tiles and the unique charm of Porto, customers can start planning that long-awaited Portuguese getaway.

In addition to new destinations, American will also expand its network with more new routes to Europe. From New York (JFK), customers will have nonstop access to Amsterdam (AMS) and Nice, France (NCE).

Amsterdam is a time-tested vacation destination in Europe. American’s service from JFK will complement existing seasonal flights to AMS from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) and year-round flights from PHL. Known for more than 60 miles of canals, world-class museums and vibrant ambiance, it is no surprise the city is one of the most popular summer destinations. Plus, no trip to Amsterdam is complete without enjoying delectable stroopwafels and truffle fries.

For travelers looking for European beaches, American will connect the Big Apple with the French Riviera via NCE in 2027. This magnificent region has enthralled travelers with its sparkling blue waters, charming cities and nearby lavender fields.

Barcelona (BCN) is one of the most sought-after destinations in Spain, and American will connect BCN with a 6th gateway in the U.S. with service to Charlotte, North Carolina (CLT), next year. With more service to BCN than any other U.S. airline, American offers the most convenient nationwide access for travelers looking to visit the city known for beautiful architecture and its championship-winning soccer club.

In response to growing customer interest for cherry blossom season in Japan, American will launch service between Chicago (ORD) and Tokyo (NRT) on March 19. In addition to providing nonstop access to one of the world’s most vibrant cities, customers can connect beyond to destinations in East and Southeast Asia in partnership with Japan Airlines.

Next year, the airline will also extend the season on two returning routes. Service from CLT to Paris (CDG) and Miami (MIA) to Milan (MXP) will both launch on March 4, 2027. Spring break travel to Europe has grown in popularity, and American is responding to increased interest in these key markets.

London is one of the most important cities for premium travelers, and American is proud to serve as the largest U.S. airline in the market. In 2027, the airline will increase its presence in London with the reintroduction of a 4th daily flight between JFK and LHR. In partnership with British Airways, travelers will have up to 14 daily flights between New York City and London, the most of any airline partnership.
