The route is operated with Airbus A321XLR. Iberia was the launch operator of this model and has 7 units in its fleet. The A321XLR features the new Airspace cabin, offering larger overhead compartments, LED lighting and an enhanced sense of space, improving the onboard experience. It is configured with two cabins —Business and Economy— with a total of 182 seats.
The launch of this service coincides with the summer season, during which Iberia has scheduled a record capacity between Madrid and New York, with a total of 352,055 seats, 43% more than last year, further strengthening connectivity between the two markets for both business and leisure travel.
More capacity in the United States
For the summer season, Iberia has designed the largest schedule in its history for the United States and Canada. The airline will offer 1,280,254 seats in these markets, 19.02% more than last summer, and operate up to 166 weekly flights, compared to 144 in the previous season, representing a 15% increase in frequencies.
This growth is part of the development of Iberia’s Flight Plan 2030, which continues to drive the airline’s expansion through the incorporation of new aircraft and the launch of strategic destinations. In recent months, Iberia has received six new Airbus A321XLR aircraft, a long-haul model that has strengthened its operations in North America and increased capacity in key markets.
As a result of this expansion, the airline is further strengthening its presence in North America with the launch of Toronto, the addition of a new daily flight to Newark and the first full summer of operations to Orlando, consolidating its commitment to this market as one of the pillars of its long-haul network.
