Iberia: 18% increase in seats to Brazil for the next winter season

Iberia has already scheduled its next winter season 26/27, in which there will be a new increase in capacity in Brazil, in this case 18%, to connect the country with Europe. This ‘airlift’ will have a total of 322,000 seats between the end of October and March.

This increase in Brazil is mainly explained by the increases in its capacity that the two new routes in the country, Recife and Fortaleza, which opened in December and January and will add 29,000 and 26,000 seats respectively in the months in question, will present in the next winter season.

In the case of Recife, the route of northeastern Brazil will go from the current 3 weekly frequencies to between 5 and 7 weekly frequencies, so for much of the next winter season the city will be connected with a daily flight with Madrid. When comparing the previous year’s capacity, the growth is 190%.

Fortaleza will also have an increase in capacity and will go from the 3 weekly frequencies with which it is currently operating, to between 4 and 5, which will also substantially increase connectivity with Europe. On this occasion, the growth in seats compared to the same time of a year before amounts to 161%.

Both routes are operated with the Airbus A321XLR. It has capacity for 182 people distributed in two cabins: Business and Economy.

These frequency increases are added to the capacity that Iberia already has in Sao Paulo, with two daily flights, and Rio de Janeiro, a destination that currently has 5 frequencies per week.
